ABSTRACT

To deepen the understanding of the acupoint indications, clarify the targeting of acupoints, and provide a basis for the composition of acupuncture prescriptions, it is suggested to add acupoint identification into the textbook Meridians and Acupoints, and a preliminary assumption that relevant acupoints can be identified by taking the indications, locations, and meridians as the key points is proposed. In this paper, acupoints for treating stomach disease, acupoints of eye region, and five-shu points of lung meridian are taken as examples, combined with ancient literature and modern scientific research achievements, the main indications of acupoint is identified, which is of great significance to the discipline's development, talent training, and achievement transformation.

ABSTRACT

Previous researches about the brain mechanism of aphasia mainly focused on the correspondence between cortical brain regions and language function. Now, more and more researches have found that the connection of white matter tracts in the brain plays an important role in language function. Dual-stream language model hypothesizes that the process of language can be considered as two parallel pathways, dorsal and ventral. The white matter fibers of dorsal stream include arcuate fasciculus and superior longitudinal fasciculi, which are mainly involved in the production of language. The white matter fibers of ventral stream include the inferior frontal-occipital fasciculus, inferior longitudinal fasciculus and uncinate fasciculus, which are mainly responsible for language understanding. The conception of connection mode and specific functional role of these fibers in the language network of patients with aphasia is helpful for the assessment of the features and severity of the patient's language dysfunction and outcome, to guide clinical precision rehabilitation. More researches are needed to elaborate the interaction between the dorsal and ventral streams to well know the brain's language network processing mechanism.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the changes of gray matter volume in patients with chronic nonfluent aphasia after cortical cerebral infarction and the relationship between gray matter volume and language function. Methods:From June, 2016 to June, 2019, 19 patients with chronic nonfluent aphasia after cortical cerebral infarction from the First Affiliated Hospital of Ji'nan University and 28 healthy subjects (controls) were scanned with structural magnetic resonance imaging. The data were analyzed using voxel-based morphological measurement to measure the gray matter volumes of the brain regions, and the differences between patients and controls were compared. The correlation between volumes of brain regions with difference and scores of items of Aphasia Battery of Chinese (ABC) was analyzed. Results:The gray matter volumes increased in the brain regions of right inferior frontal gyrus triangle, right inferior frontal gyrus island cover, right angular gyrus, the right medial frontal gyrus, left insula, left medial frontal gyrus in the patients; while decreased in right globus pallidus. The volumes of left insular lobe correlated with the scores of repeating (r = 0.665, P = 0.001) and naming (r = 0.638, P = 0.003); and the volumes of right inferior frontal gyrus triangle correlated with the scores of hearing comprehension (r = 0.493, P = 0.031), repeating (r = 0.576, P = 0.009) and naming (r = 0.674, P = 0.001) in the patients. Conclusion:The cortex volumes of left insula and right inferior frontal gyrus triangle increase in patients with chronic nonfluent aphasia after cerebral infarction, which may play a role in the language dysfunction.

ABSTRACT

The concepts of acupuncture-moxibustion "academic school" "school of thought" and "school" are differentiated. It is believed that "academic school" is the general term of "school of thought" and "school". This paper puts forward a solution to the confusion of related concepts, disunity of formation conditions, disunity of divisionmethods and disunity of nomenclature. It is proposed that a great concentration should be put on the arrangement of acupuncture-moxibustion academic school and the regulation on related issues. Because of the complexity and diversity of the form and content of acupuncture-moxibustion schools, the division of them should not be so specified and the unification of related issues should not be so strictly required.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To compare the clinical efficacy between moxibustion and acupuncture for knee osteoarthritis (KOA), and to observe the effect on serum tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-1β(IL-1β), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA).@*METHODS@#A total of 60 patients with KOA were randomized into a moxibustion group (30 cases, 2 cases dropped off) and an acupuncture group (30 cases, 2 cases dropped off). In the aucpuncture group, acupuncture was applied at Neixiyan (EX-LE 4), Dubi (ST 35), Heding (EX-LE 2), Xuehai (SP 10), Liangqiu (ST 34), Zusanli (ST 36) and point on the affected side for 30 min.In the moxibustion group, moxibustion was adopted at knee for 60 min. The treatment was given once every two days for 4 weeks, totally 14 times. Before and after treatment, the western ontario and McMaster universities osteoarthritis index (WOMAC) score was compared, and the therapeutic effect was evaluated in the two groups. The contents of serum TNF-αand IL-1β, the activity of serum SOD and the serum level of MDA were detected in the two groups.@*RESULTS@#Compared before treatment, the WOMAC scores and the contents of serum TNF-α, IL-1β and MDA after treatment were reduced (<0.05), the activity of serum SOD was increased (<0.05) in the two groups. In the moxibustion group, the WOMAC score and the contents of serum TNF-α, IL-1β and MDA after treatment were lower than the acupuncture group (<0.05), the activity of serum SOD was higher than the acupuncture group (<0.05). The total effective rate was 89.3% (25/28) in the moxibustion group, which was superior to 42.9% (12/28) in the acupuncture group (<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Moxibustion and acupuncture can relieve KOA symptoms, and the therapeutic effect of moxibustion is superior to acupuncture. The mechanism may be related to the reduction of serum inflammatory factor and oxidative stress factor.

ABSTRACT

The situation of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is still severe at present. In order to better fight against the epidemic and give full play to the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine, we explored the feasibility of acupuncture therapy in the intervention of COVID-19 through analyzing the relevant literature in both ancient and modern time. Additionally, we analyzed the intervention scheme of acupuncture for COVID-19 developed by China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and supplemented the protocol of the intervention with auricular acupuncture. It was proposed that the advantages of acupuncture and moxibustion should be fully displayed while Chinese herbal medications have been applied in the treatment of COVID-19. During treatment, acupuncture physicians should be rationally allocated to a certain proportion so as to adequately utilize comprehensive therapeutic approaches and guarantee people's safety to the greatest extent. Eventually, the clinical therapeutic effect may be improved, the national resources be economized on and the COVID-19 epidemic be conquered early.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the application characteristics of different acupuncture-moxibusition (acu-moxi) therapies for knee osteoarthritis (KOA), and to provide a reference for clinical application. METHODS: Computer and data mining techniques were used to establish a database of acu-moxi therapies for KOA, and the articles on acu-moxi in the treatment of KOA in the past decade were collected, screened, entered, reviewed, and analyzed. Acu-moxi therapies for KOA were summarized in terms of treatment method, clinical effect, association between treatment method and acupoint selection, needle specifications, and depth of acupuncture. RESULTS: There are as many as 46 kinds of operation methods to treat knee osteoarthritis, among which moxibustion method has the highest frequency and the most operation methods. Traditional Chinese acupuncture and moxibustion technology has a significant effect on knee osteoarthritis, and the effective rate is more than 90%, among which the minimally invasive technique of traditional Chinese medicine has the highest cure rate and recovery rate. The relationship between traditional Chinese medicine operation and acupoint selection shows that the acupuncture and moxibustion therapy guided by traditional Chinese medicine theory pays more attention to acupoint selection based on syndrome differentiation, while the minimally invasive technique of traditional Chinese medicine is mostly proximal acupoint selection. The diameter of the needle with the highest usage frequency was 0.3 mm. The larger the diameter of the needle, the higher the specificity. The level of acupuncture was mostly tendon, followed by bone. The cure rate of acupuncture to bone is the highest. CONCLUSION: Acupuncture and moxibustion has a significant effect in the treatment of KOA, with a profound theoretical basis; treatment of KOA should emphasize overall conditioning, and acupuncture should reach the bone and the tendon, so as to achieve a better clinical effect.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES@#To evaluate the therapeutic effect on the voice recovery of patients with vocal cord polyps undergoing the microsurgery of preoperative voice therapy.@*METHODS@#Twenty-six patients diagnosed with unilateral vocal cord polyp under stroboscope, who needed to undergo vocal cord loss resection under supportive laryngoscope, were randomly divided into control group (non-voice training) and treatment group (voice training), with each group of 13 patients. Patients in control group were just treated with surgical operation. Apart from surgical treatment, patients in treatment group received 6 hours intensive vocal therapy one week before the surgery. The therapy courses consist of the propaganda and education of voice care, postoperative vocal instruction and the patients' self-training under the guidance of voice therapists. The acoustic parameters (irregularity, breathiness, grade, jitter and shimmer) of the same patient were collected 24 to 48 hours before the surgery and 14 days after the surgery with Ling WAVES. The results were analyzed with SPSS 19.0.@*RESULTS@#The differences of all the five preoperative voice parameters between control group and treatment group are not significant; but postoperative breathiness and jitter in treatment group were significantly lower than that in control group, while the differences of irregularity, overall severity and shimmer were not significant between control group and treatment group. In control group, breathiness and jitter were significantly improved after surgery, while the differences of irregularity, breathiness and shimmer were not significant between preoperation and postoperation. In treatment group, all the five voice parameters were significantly improved after surgery. According to the laryngostroboscopic examination, the vocal fold polyps were excised completely in both groups.@*CONCLUSIONS@#Preoperative voice therapy contributes to the recovery of voice quality of the patients with vocal cord polyps. Combined intervention of surgery and voice therapy is an effective method to treat the patients with vocal cord polyps.

ABSTRACT

?AIM: To investigate the changes of nearwork induced transient myopia ( NITM ) in different refractive status after continuous near tasking.?METHODS:Prospective study. Thirty subjects ( aged 18-24, average 20. 9 ± 2. 1, 12 males and 18 females) were recruited in this study. They were divided into 3 groups according to the subjective refraction: 10 with hyperopia (H), 10 with emmetrope (E) and 10 with myopia (M). All the subjects with soft contact lens watched videos on a panel computer at near distance (33cm ~ 40cm). Five measurements of distance refraction in the right eye were performed by using an infrared optometer before, after 30min and 60min sustained viewing task, and the mean of 5 refractive values was recorded as spherical equivalent. Then distance refraction of right eyes was done every 5s followed by stopping near tasking until NITM was disappeared completely and the decay time of NITM was recorded for each subject. The value of NITM was the difference of refractive values between before and after near tasking. Paired-t test was used to compare the changes of refractive values in the same group. ANOVA was used to determine the differences of NITM and its decaying time among three groups.?RESULTS: Compared with pre - task, no significant refractive changes were found in hyperopic group ( t =1. 627,P= 0. 138 ); While subjects with emmetropia and myopia showed more myopic shifts at the two time points (tE = 2. 699, PE = 0. 024;tM = 4. 930, PM = 0. 001 ). With continuous viewing until the 30th min and 60th min, significant differences of averaged NITM were found between myopic group and other 2 groups (P0. 05). Significant differences of the decay time of NITM can be seen among the three groups after near tasking (F=787. 983,P<0. 001).? CONCLUSION: Subjects with myopia are more susceptible to produce NITM than other 2 groups during sustained nearwork for the same time and the decaying time of NITM is longer in myopia group after near tasking, thus it is suggesting that NITM might be attributed to the development and progression of myopia.
